Discretion

Post  Drew on Mon Jul 27, 2009 12:47 pm

Without bringing up any names, I had to talk to a bar owner this morning about a missing scoresheet and the conversation turned into a discussion about smoking weed on the bar property. The owner was pissed off and told the player, "Not on my business property." Dave Burnham and I discussed this issue and agree that what the players do is their own business and we're not here to tell anyone how to run his personal life. If you're jacked up on meth or a pot smoker, that's your business. (Recommend gettin' off the meth, though. That shit is just wrong for anyone who gets the habit and will rot your teeth right out of your head.) Here's the problem: If you're seen using by a bar owner who doesn't like it, then it becomes our business when they come to us with the complaint. WE DON'T WANT THOSE CONVERSATIONS. If you're using, no one's going to stop you but you and again, personal issues are none of our business. KEEP WHAT YOU DO PRIVATE. Captains, pass this along to your players.

BE DISCRETE ABOUT YOUR PERSONAL CHOICES. WE DON'T ASK. WE DON'T TELL.

DON'T PISS OFF THE WRONG BAR OWNER / SPONSOR.

Guess some people need to be reminded. This incident came up from a visiting team which didn't know the home bar owner. What's okay in one place may not be okay in another. With that, let's close the subject.
